Mangaluru: KNS holds inter-parish singing competition

Mangaluru, Aug 26: Konkani Natak Sabha®(KNS) here, organized the 56th inter parish singing competition for elders of different parishes of the diocese here at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday August 25.

The competition was inaugurated by film producer Henry D’Silva along with Fr Jawahar Cutinho, director of vocation promoter of Karnataka Province and co-editor of Sevak Monthly by lighting a lamp along with office bearers. Speaking at the occasion, Henry D’Silva said thousands of talents have been brought to light by KNS in all the 75 years in the area of drama, singing, speech. As a film producer I am thankful to send more and more actors to cast. Vice president Sunil Menezes, secretary Judi D’Souza, treasurer Jerry Concessao, joint secretary Floyd D’Mello and convenor Jossy Theodore were present on the dais.

The competition was held in two parts - Out of city parishes and city parishes in the category of ladies and gents Solo, Ladies and gents duet, Mixed group and married couples.



95 competitors from twelve parishes took part in the out of city parishes for the solo, duet, mixed group and married couples. Ranipura parish bagged the first place, Gurpur parish won the second and Kinnigoli parish the third. Neermarga and Vittla parish won the overall championship in the 56th children and elders singing competition.

Among the city parishes, 79 competitors from thirteen parishes took part in solo, duet, mixed group and married couples. Cordel parish bagged the first place, Angelore parish the second and Jeppu parish the third place. Cordel parish won the overall championship in the 56th children and elders singing competition.

Anil D’Sa, Pangla, Anuj Lewis, Cherkadi and Loy Castelino, Kallianpur were the judges. Fr Jawahar Cutinho welcomed the gathering. Raymond D’Cunha compered the event. Convenor Jossy Theodore introduced the Judges. Vice president Sunil Menezes announced the results. General secretary Judith D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
