Udupi: Sri Krishnaleelotsava celebrated through dance service to society

Udupi, Aug 26: Like-minded girl students of Nrityaniketana Kodavoor went to selected 50 houses and displayed dance service depicting the devotion towards Lord Krishna in order to help financially poor patients, destitutes and those who have no shelter. Dance teachers Sudhir Rao Kodavoor and Manasi Sudhir are the ones who motivated the girl students to do this noble social service.

A team of 14 students started visiting the houses in the vicinity of the city from 7 am. They performed five minutes of dance musical in front of every selected house and made the inmates of the house enjoy the Leelamrita of Lord Sri Krishna. They did not demand any specific amount from the inmates of the house but accepted gracefully whatever they donated and started a new tradition of using the collected money towards social causes.

Vidushi Anaghashree, Vasundhara, Ashwini, Sadhana, Shreya Bhat, Shreya Acharya, Shreya Pai, Sanjana, Sheetal, Priyamvada, Nikita, Bhavana Keremata, Chithanya and Suprabha from Nrityaniketana Kodavoor are the students who took this new initiative for the noble cause of helping the needy of the society.

Renowned drama director Dr Sripad Bhat says, "These girl students practice the art of dance seriously along with their usual college studies. We all know the importance of Sri Krishna Janmashtami in the city of Udupi. The girls have visited various house in the city and demonstrated the dance and collected money to be utilized for assisting the needy people of the society. I am proud to identify myself with this organization. I am extremely elated by the initiative taken by these students. I congratulate Vidwan Sudhir and Manasi Kodavoor, who made the girls ready for the social cause along with the cultural programme and also Anaghashree and all the members of the team."

Dance student Bhavana Keremata said, "All the dance students thought of doing some service to society through dance. Our teacher extended his whole-hearted support to us. We are proud that we were able to plan this project through the dance that we have studied."
