Mangaluru, Aug 24: The department of Radiation Oncology of Father Muller Medical College, will organise the ninth annual conference of Indian Brachytherapy Society national level conference IBSCON 2019 from the August 30 to September 1 in association with the Indian Brachytherapy Society.
The three day event will begin with a preconference workshop on August 30, followed by two days of national level conference. The conference will deal with brachytherapy application / implantation in various common brachytherapy sites. Sessions will also include live video demonstration of various brachytherapy applications, evidence for common brachytherapy procedures, discussions on practical implementation issues, proffered paper presentations and presentation on developments and innovations from manufacturer's perspective.
Around 150 delegates from all over the country are expected to attend the three day long workshop and conference and present their research work during the conference.
The chief guest of the programme will be Dr Christine Haie-Meder from Gustave Roussy Institute, Paris. The inaugural will be presided over by Fr Richard A Coelho, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions and Dr R L Bhalavat, president, Indian Brachytherapy Society.
Brachytherapy being the most conformal and time-tested form of Radiation therapy, has evolved in terms of applicators, imaging, software, QA tools etc in the recent past. "Indian Brachytherapy society" formed in 2005 is a non-profit, non-trade, an all India organization primarily engaged in academic and research activities in the field of brachytherapy and its allied science.
The Father Muller Charitable Institutions provides assistance for innovative research and continuing academic related activity to promote research in its various units. The Father Muller Medical College has grown in fame and stature through its efforts in providing the same assistance for research related activities and organizing national/international conferences, continuing medical education, educational colloquium and conventions.
