Mangalore, Jun 26: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Ponnuraj has promised, that the computerization of the office of the deputy commissioner here, which has been partially completed as of now, is targetted to be fully computerized within the next two months. He was addressing a press conference held here on Thursday June 25.
Once the computerization is completed, people would be able get latest information about the fate of their application either through their computers at home or through the gram panchayats. Everything including the present position of the applications, who is handling it, what remarks have been made on the application by which of the officers and who is at present handling or keeping the application pending, will henceforth be available at the touch of a key, he promised. This will save lot of time for the people who otherwise have to come from their places to the district headquarters and waste time and money waiting at the office of the deputy commissioner again and again till their applications are disposed off. All the information will be preserved in the servers of the district administration, he stated.
Once the computerization is completed, the officials would not be able to either erase or modify the remarks recorded by them. Higher officers however, would be able to record modified remarks or instructions, mentioning that this is in replacement of the earlier one.
For the present, all the staff of the office will be trained in handling computer work and in phases, this system will be extended to all the offices of the assistant commissioners and taluk offices in the district, Ponnuraj explained.
