Bantwal, Jun 26: In the interest of the smooth functioning of the fly over work being conducted at B C Road and also keeping in mind the safety of the people using the road, entry and movement of vehicles between the point where the B C Road state highway meets national highway (NH) 48 and Polali Cross in the town from June 30 to July 28 has been banned. The vehicles have been instructed to take alternative routes as mentioned below.
1. All the passenger and light vehicles coming towards Mangalore from Uppinangady and Puttur on NH 48 should turn left towards Konaje at Melkar junction and move to Mangalore via Tokkottu.
2. Passenger and light vehicles coming towards Mangalore from Dharmastala, Bantwal etc., have to turn left at the point where the state highway meets NH 48, take right turn at Melkar junction and move via Tokkottu.
3. Passenger vehicles coming towards B C Road from Dharmastala, Bantwal, Uppinangady,Puttur and Mudipu etc., have to go back after touching the circle where the state highway touches NH 48.
Vehicles carrying vegetables, milk, cooking gas, food items, medicines and petroleum products are permitted to move on Melkar, Mudipu, Konaje, Tokkottu roads on both sides. Movement of heavy vehicles except passenger vehicles is banned. The heavy vehicles may move on NH 17.
