Kundapur: YCS holds convention at Christ the King Church Trasi

Kundapur, Aug 23: Youth Catholic Students (YCS) Convention of the deanery was recently held at Christ the King church hall, Trasi. Nearly 119 YCS members of Kundapur deanery attended the programme.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Fr Charles Lewis. Along with him Fr Kiran Nazreth, SDB, the resource person of the programme, Lona Lewis, Kundapur deanery YCS animator and Neldria Crasto, president YCS Kundapur deanery were the dignitaries. The programme began by invoking the blessings of God by a prayer song.

Thereafter, Fr Charles Lewis graced everyone with his thought provoking message.

The programme then proceeded with a talk on 'Self Identity' by Fr Kiran Nazreth.



The session was on 'Self identification and youthfulness and what does the Bible tell us about it'. Topics like friendship, family etc were also discussed. The importance of one's life and about creative mind were also other topics. He kept the students active by his collage work and other cell activities. There were cell meetings held which involved discussions based on the topic artificial intelligence and also reflecting on the methodology of YCS which are see, judge and act where YCS members could express their views and interact with each other in their respective cells.

Later, a Eucharistic mass was celebrated by Fr Albert Crasta. Fr Kiran Nazreth was present.

As part of the cultural programme, YCS units presented a skit and baila dance. The skit competition involved many parishes presenting their topics on self identity, safe school and safe environment. Saritha Alva, Reshma Fernandes and Melcon Lewis were the esteemed judges for the cultural programme.

Fr Stany Tauro, dean, Kundapur deanery attended the programme and graced everyone with his words of wisdom.

The valedictory function was presided over by Fr Charles Lewis, parish priest, Trasi Church. Edwin D'Souza, director, Youth Commission, Udupi Diocese, Fr Albert Crasta, YCS director, Kundapur deanery, Sweedel Pinto, YCS president, Udupi diocese Fr Vijay Royson D'Souza were present on the occasion.

Neldria, YCS president, Kundapur deanery announced the list of winners.

Byndoor parish emerged winners of the cultural event were Basrur parish and Trasi parish secured the secured and third place respectively.

Ronson Menezes, YCS president Tallur unit, welcomed the gathering. Julitha Gonsalves, YCS vice president Udupi diocese proposed the vote of thanks.

With this, the programme came to a close by singing the YCS anthem.
