Panaji, Jun 25: The swab samples of mother-son duo sent at National Institute of Communicable Diseases, New Delhi have tested negative for swine flu, health officials confirmed today.
“Both the samples are negative which means that they have no swine flu,” Dr Rajendra Tamba, state nodal officer for swine flu, said today.
On Monday, mother and son were home quarantined awaiting the report of their swab samples.
Tamba stated that 32-year-old son who reached Goa from US trip on June two developed flu-like symptoms after few days of his arrival.
While son recovered, his 50 year old mother showed the symptoms and they were referred to Goa Medical College.
The Goa Medical College’s department of medicines recommended that their swab samples be sent for testing.
Goa had the first swine flu patient when a local who had traveled to London was tested positive on June 09.
He was later discharged after his tests recorded negative after the treatment.
Government figures revealed that the health authorities have screened 8,371 passengers at Dabolim airport for swine flu symptoms till tuesday.
