Udupi: ‘Holidays for schools and colleges not declared yet’ - DDPI issues clarification

Udupi, Aug 9: Dismissing the news over holidays for schools and colleges in various districts of Karnataka till August 15 due to rain, DDPI Sheshashayana Karinje said that the news was completely untrue.

Speaking to media, he clarified and said, “It is wrong message published in the said media. We have not announced any holiday after August 9 officially. The holiday is given only up to Friday, August 9. If we announce holiday, we will send deputy commissioner’s authorised circular (with signature) to schools. No one enquired about holiday dates with me. I do not know, who gave the information to media.”

A leading media hosue reported that following the continued deluge in the state, schools and colleges, both government and private would remain closed in some districts till August 15. Holiday was declared for all educational institutions in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Uttar Kannada, Raichur, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Chikkodi, Shivamogga, Bidar, Haveri, Kodagu, Koppal, Yadgir, Kalaburgi, Dharwad, Ballari, Hassan, Udupi, and Gadag, it said.
