Mangaluru: Confraternity sunday observed at St Dominic church, Ashoknagar

Mangaluru, Aug 8: The confraternity Sunday was observed on Aug 4, in preparation for the feast of St. Dominic Guzman, the patron of St. Dominic Church, Ashoknagar. A prayerful Eucharistic procession was taken from the church via Ashoknagar circle and Urvastore. The parish priest Fr Aquin Noronha OP accompanied by Frs. Royston Lobo, Pratik Pereira, Greyfon Rodrigues and St Dominic Community fathers led the procession with the Eucharistic Lord. Religious sisters, brothers and large number of people of the parish as well as from neighbouring places devotedly participated in the procession. People of all religion witnessed the beauty of the Eucharistic Lord. During the procession special prayers were offered for peace, country, children, society and families. Discipline was maintained with the assistance of volunteers from the parish, the police personnel and general public. At the end of the Eucharistic procession a general blessing was given to the faithful in the Church.

On behalf of the parish community, parish priest thanked the sub inspector urwa police station, Corporator Sri Radhakrishna who accompanied the procession, the vice-president Richard Gonsalves and secretary Isac Furtado and the faithful.

Prior to the Eucharistic procession the Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Cyril Lobo from Bondel Parish. In his homily he said that the greatest danger of the faithful in the present world would be for not doing good works and being indifferent towards others. He shed light on the importance of sharing the God given resources, especially the food with the needy.

The feast of St Dominic Guzman the patron of the parish would be celebrated on 11th August at 10.00 a.m. with a thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration. The novena in preparation for the feast has already begun on 2nd of August.
