Mangaluru, Aug 8: Kumaradhara and Netravati rivers are overflowing due to the continuous rains in the Western Ghat area. Many parts of the district of Dakshina Kannada are facing the probability of flood.
The national highway 75 that connects Mangaluru with the capital city is closed for the time being due to the highway getting inundated at Udane near Nelyadi, as the flow of water in Kumaradhara river has increased. Vehicles have made a beeline on the highway. Uppinangady police are providing necessary protection.
Inmates of four houses near Kulkunda near Subramanya had to relocate to safer place as the water from the Kumaradhara river entered their homes. Ganji center is being opened for the affected victims.
The water from the Kumaradhara has entered the Subramanya-Manjeshwara state highway near Subramanya bathing ghat. Vehicular movement is prohibited on this road. In addition, movement of vehicles is affected on Bisile Ghat also that connects Sullia-Subramany-Sakleshput due to the landslide and falling of trees across the road.
