Mangaluru, Aug 6: “Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a historic decision to scrap Article 35 A and 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir,” said MLA Sanjeev Matandoor.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, August 6, Sanjeev Matandoor said, "Before the Lok Sabha elections, BJP had promised to scrap these Articles, if BJP gains majority. Congress had given special status to Jammu and Kashmir during Independence of India. The decision taken by Modi and Amit Shah is commendable and historic one.”

MLA Sanjeev Matandoor also appreciated Chief Minister Yediyurappa for waiving off loan of the fishermen within hours of assuming power and showing his concern towards the fishermen community.

“Justice prevailed in our fight against celebrating Tipu Jayanti. Just for vote bank and to appease the Muslim community, Congress took a decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, which led to deaths and communal violence in the state. Now BJP has scrapped Tipu Jayanti,” added Sanjeev.

Sanjeev concluded by saying, “The BJP membership campaign is in full swing throughout the country. In the district of Dakshina Kannada, so far, 75,000 people have registered as members of BJP. The aim of the party is to reach more than two lac.”angaluru south MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty, District BJP general secretary Capt Brijesh Chowta and others were present.
