Mangaluru: Dengue under control - People need to be very careful

Mangaluru, Aug 6: The district health department, while noting that dengue is very much under control in the district, has advised the people to be extremely careful as rains have of late gained in intensity.

District Malaria Surveillance Officer, Dr Naveenchandra, said that during the last three days, about 80 persons have got admitted into different hospitals in the district with complaint of fever. "Almost similar number of patients are also getting discharged. As the rains had stopped for some days and then resumed after a gap, people should give prominence co cleanliness, ensure that water does not get accumulated anywhere in and around the houses, and it is ensured that no spots which are likely to facilitate breeding of larvae are allowed to exist," he stated.

Seven suspected dengue cases have been found in Kinnigoli area. Seven persons from around the villages, who are suffering from suspected dengue, have got admitted into a private hospital at Kinnigoli. Hospital source said that over 15 have been healed and discharged from the hospital so far.

Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, has already held meeting of health officials of primary health centres and discussed with them the need for handling of emergencies and need to take precautionary measures.
