Mangaluru, Aug 1: Writer and journalist, Richie John Pais’ ‘Silence to Sound, a Mobile Journey’ short film released recently on YouTube has received tremendous positive reviews from viewers as well as from experts.
The satirical and farcical film tells the story of mobile phones from 1940 to 2019.
The rare silent movie, set in 1940s, has a single dialogue in the end. Most of the movie is in Black and White. Only the end part, beginning from 1970 to 2019, has Eastman and present-day colours.
The film has been chosen for many short film festivals around the world and will be screened during 2019 and beginning of 2020. It was premiered in Lift-Off Film Festival in New York on July 14.
Richie John Pais has written the story, screenplay and directed the short film of 13.26 minutes duration. The film has been produced by Dolphy Vas, Abu Dhabi for Dillon Antonio Creatives.
Most of the actors are amateur. Stany Fernandes, Victor Rasquinha, Usha Fernandes, Alwyn Tauro, Alphonse Saldanha, Arthur Rasquinha. Stany Machado, Roshan Lobo. Wilson Lobo, Jeevan Vas, Stallone Fernandes, Steven Fernandes, Joachim Monteiro, Ritesh Vas, Swetha Vas. Maclean D'Souza, Neil Coelho, Dolcy Shalet D'Souza, Herry D'Souza, Roshan Rocco, Godwin Pinto, Harish Pandeshwar, Narayan Raj and Richie John Pais have acted in this film.
Walter Nandalike, Fr Onil D’Souza, Cynthia Fernandes, Ritesh Vas and Roshan Fernandes have offered special help for the making and marketing of the film.
Production Design was handled by Richie John Pais while Steven Fernandes and Nia Francisca Pais were responsible for art. Narayana Raj has contributed to the editing and photography of the film while makeup was done by Harish Pandeshwar.
Music has been provided by Sanjay John Rodrigues and Wedson D’Souza.
Richie John Pais writes in Konkani as well as in English with 4 books to his credit. Presently he is Senior Editor at Daijiworld Media.
