Udupi, Jul 31: “The coalition government led by H D Kumaraswamy failed to run the administration due to internal conflict among the Congress MLAs, due to which it lost its existence. Coalition government did nothing for the farmers,” said District BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde at a press meet that was held at the BJP office at Kadiyali near here on Wednesday, July 31.

Ratnakar Hegde further said, “Within hours of assuming power, Chief Minister Yediyurappa has announced Rs 4,000 financial assistance to the farmers under the Modi’s Kisan Samman scheme.

“The loans of fishermen, which they took from credit cooperative associations and commercial banks are also waived by the new CM. Due to this, 23,507 fishermen will get relief from the Rs 60.584 crore of loans they have with these institutions. I would like to congratulate the CM. He also waived the loans of the weavers of the state,” said Ratnakar.

Regarding cancellation of Tipu Jayanti, Mattaru said, “It was started by former chief minister Siddaramaiah, while he was in power. But this led to communal conflict and disturbed the communal harmony. Keeping these points in mind, it was cancelled by the BJP government.”

“People of the coastal region are facing sand crisis since six years and it has hit the economic system of Udupi. Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar met the CM and handed over a memorandum to grant permission for sand extraction. There is hope that Varahi water will definitely flow to Udupi soon and BJP will pressurize the government through five the MLAs and MLC,” added Ratnakar.

Mattaru further said, “The government should declare a government holiday statewide on the occasion of Krishnashtami and Vitlapindi. The government must give suitable positions to all the five MLAs of the district of Udupi as all have the eligibility and capacity to take the charge based on seniors’ decision.”

Giving his opinion on the passing of Triple Talaq bill, Ratnakar said, “Triple Talaq bill was passed by both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to prevent an end of the unlawful practice in the Muslim community. Through this, the central government has given security to the married life of Muslim women. The bill says that it is a punishable offence. Everyone should appreciate this decision.”

Regarding BJP membership drive, the BJP president said, “The BJP membership drive began on July 6. There are 26 Shakti Kendras and 38 Maha Shakti Kendras in the district. As many as 75,000 people have registered voluntarily. We are focusing on colleges to enroll the students in BJP. Definitely we will achieve our target soon.”

Mattaru also expressed his condolences on the sad demise Café Coffee Day founder Siddharth Hegde.

BJP leaders Yashpal Suvarna, Kuylady Suresh Naik, Sandhya Ramesh, Shivakumar Ambalpady, Naveen Kuthyar and others were present.
