Bengaluru, Jul 27: A court here has ordered extension of the custody of IMA scam accused Mansoor Khan with the Enforcement Directorate till August 1.
As his custody period ended, the Enforcement Directorate officials produced Khan before the first sessions court here on Friday July 26. During the arguments, the advocate representing Enforcement Directorate said that the officials could not properly interrogate Khan as he has been suffering from bouts of illness. They also pointed out that the process of forfeiture of some properties and assets is pending and hence sought extension of Khan's custody.
The court which upheld these arguments, handed him over to the Enforcement Directorate custody for five days and posted the next hearing to August 1.
In the meantime, Bengaluru city district deputy commissioner, Vijay Shankar, who has been accused of accepting bribe of Rs 1.5 crore from Mansoor Khan, was granted conditional bail on Friday. It is said that the official had demanded and collected the said bribe to file false report that IMA company was not involved in any irregularities. He had been arrested by the special investigation team and the court had remanded him to judicial custody on July 13.
