Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 25: An incident took place at Parappanangadi, where a bus conductor, identified as Sakeer Ali, was held accountable for a grave error. The events leading to the incident involve two young school going siblings. On July 23, a kindergarten kid who was with his elder sister boarded a private bus from school to go home. On reaching the destination, the kids moved towards the bus door to descend from the bus. The elder sister stepped down from the bus so as soon as the bus halted at their destination, when her brother was about to descend the bus sped away.

The elder sibling shrieked stating her brother has not alighted from the bus. From their stop, 300 metres ahead, the bus stopped so that the younger sibling could descend. The weather was not favourable to the kids as it was drizzling. A social worker on board the bus detailed the entire incident on social media.
Malappuram district collector Jafer Malik came across the incident and directed the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to give a report on the matter. On further probe, it was the bus conductor Sakeer Ali who was held accountable for critical errors.
After the receiving RTO's report on the incident, Malik decided to reform the reckless bus conductor, Ali. Starting from Thursday for a period of 10 days, district collector Malik, ordered Ali to work for the Government Children's Home at Thavanoor from 9 am to 4 pm. The community service is viewed as a punishment to sensitize Ali’s behaviour towards children.
Unfortunately, on Thursday, officials at the children's home said that Ali did not show up for work till 11 am. These incidents were one of the several cases where the bus drivers around the district are known to drive recklessly to collect more passengers than the others.
