Mangaluru, Jul 23: Police personnel of Ullal station, who arrested four gang members of a team engaged in illegal cattle transportation on Monday July 22 from near Talapady tollgate, also seized the lorry in which the animals were being taken and ten cattle which were rescued.
A team led by police inspector, Gopikrishna, apart from assistant sub-inspector, Radhakrishna, and other staff including home guards took part in the operation. During the check at the Talapady tollgate, they found that ten buffalos were being taken in an Eicher truck bearing Kerala registration number. When the vehicles were being checked at the Talapady check post , it was found that ten cattle including she buffalos and buffalos were loaded in the vehicle.
The arrested men happen to be Roopey Mardi from Assam, Sumit, Dasharath, and John It is said that a person named Sebastian from Nelyadi had sent the animals by truck. The animals were handed over to Gau Vanitashram Trust at Pajeeru. The lorry was seized.
