Bengaluru, Jul 20: “I do not want any position, not even the post of deputy chief minister (DCM). I met JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda only for formality,” said former minister Ramalinga Reddy.
Speaking after visiting Deve Gowda, he said that there were no discussions on persuading dissatisfied MLAs. “I tried to contact the disgruntled MLAs when I decided to withdraw my resignation. But they were not accessible,” he said.
“What displeased MLA Somashekar said about me was true. Somashekar, Vishwanath and I had together decided not to withdraw our resignations at any cost. But I had to relent as several leaders put pressure on me. I tried to contact the MLAs who have stayed away on Monday and Tuesday, after I decided to withdraw my resignation on Sunday. But they were not available.
I do not want any position. There are several aspirants for DCM position. How can I get this post in such circumstances? I do not want any position even if I am offered. I have not resigned for the sake of a position,” he clarified.
