Bantwal, July 18: A young man saved the life of a woman who accidentally fell into the well at Kolake, Sajipamooda village near here on Thursday, July 18.

Kolake resident Parvati (60) accidentally fell into the well near her house. The neighbours, who saw it, raised an alarm for help. Meanwhile Siddique, a young man, who was sitting and reading a newspaper in the nearby shop, came rushing and jumped into the well. He later succeeded in bringing up Parvati through a rope with help from local people.

Parvati, who looked unwell after the incident, was rushed to a hospital in Bantwal for treatment. She is responding to the treatment and is out of danger.

Parvati, who has three children, is staying with her younger son Divakar.

Divakar and Siddique are said to be good friends.

There is wide praise for Siddique who jumped into the well in the nick of time, without thinking of consequences. Social media too has praised him.

This is the India we want to see. Not the one lynching and spreading communal venom at the instance of politicians. People should realise that at the time of distress our politicians will never come to help. They will be in resorts. Well done Siddique.

May this friendship be a role model to all our youth.
How beautiful it would be if friends belonged to different communities, willing to take risks for each other ? For a moment I remembered my childhood days when this kind of life was just normal social behaviour irrespective of cast and creed.
God bless you Sadique, May your tribe increase.

People like Jennifer don’t even know the width and breadth of well . You don’t need to know to swim to jump in the well .you need humanity and guts . By the way nobody needs to know swimming to jump into well .

Mann, there should be appreciation for little deeds people do to help others. If this young man had not known swimming, he would never have jumped in the well.

And, even if he jumped without knowing swimming, there couldn't have been a rescue, but two victims (in place of one a rescuing and the other surering). One out of them accidental, the other foolish.

Knowing swimming is a life-saver. Had Sadique not known swimming, he would not have jumped in the well.

Thank you youngman, keep helping people selflessly like this.
