“Important points were noticed during the investigation. According to the accused, six policemen are involved in the act of illegal trafficking of cattle. I feel very disappointed that police personnel are also supporting the cattle theft. One should not generalize the department. Investigation will be held in a transparent manner.
“We have clearly instructed to all the five accused that henceforth they should not get involved in any cases of cattle theft. A parade was called at sub-division level to warn them. If we come across any illegal activities, we will take action against them.
“Armed head constable Santhosh Shetty, working at Malpe and the other four policemen namely Raghavendra, head constable, Kota station, PSI Balasubrahmanya, DAF, Prashanth, head constable, and Chandrashekhar, constable are absconding now.
“The four from Udupi district and two from Uttara Kannada district were hand in glove with the illegal cattle traffickers.”
The strength of the department is more than 1,000 and only four are accused,” she said.
