Kasargod: Indonesia takes control of cargo ship, 22 Indians in dire straits

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (MS)

Kasargod, Jul 18: An Indian cargo vessel, which went of its scheduled route and ended up in Indonesian waters, is confiscated by the Indonesian government. 22 Indians, including P K Moosa Kunhi, a resident of Parekatte, Uppala in the district and Kalandar, a resident of Arikaadi, Kumble of the district are in trouble.

Though this incident has occurred five months ago, the matter came to light only when one of the men on the ship conveyed the message to his family through phone.

The vessel S G Pegsessn, which was carrying the load of chemicals, was on its way to Singapore from the Mumbai port. As the engine of the ship had some trouble midway through the journey, the ship lost its track and ended up on the sea shore of Indonesia. The Indonesian Navy confiscated the ship for trespassing their water territory.

The ship has run out of food, water and medicines as per the information given by Moosa Kunhi, who is one of the crew stuck on the ship, to his brother P K Abdulla. The crew in the ship has also sent an appeal to the foreign ministry of the central government to get them released from the clutches of the Indonesian government.

PAM Suvarna, karla, you must be in deep slumber. You say - No worry, we are now in safe hand of central govt lead by PM Modi and his efficient externail affairs minister and they would be released very soon. So, who was the PM for the past 5 months? So, then external minister was inefficient?

India has its own rules and we are proud of it. As Rita, Germany, has observed, we cant blame Indonesian Govt for they had the right to arrest them because our tanker had entered their territorial. Did our crew send a sos signal of help or simply let sail and without permission entered there with knowing or not knowing..why didnt they first asked help or told them when there was trouble.? We are sad as they are suffering without reason.
We pray and wish them the best and safe return.

This is a registered Indian vessel..... Why can't Indonesian government, contact our embassy in Jakarta ???? We are aware that Indonesia is an Islamic nation.... this is a purely a humanitarian issue .... Why trouble the crew and detain their ship ??????

Charan mangalore,Here we cant blame Indonesian Govt,or who took them in custody. They had the right to arrest them because our tanker had entered their territorial. Our men made a mistake of not sending a sos signal of help and simply let sail and without permission entered there with knowing or not knowing..why didnt they first asked help or told them when there was trouble.?Now they are suffering ,and now let to know their position. They should have earlier sent some message to Indian govt.or people concerned. They should have sent message to the owner of vessel to note their situation.Hard days are in future till someone helps.Hope for the best.
