Mangaluru: 8-year-old dies due to suspected dengue fever

Mangaluru, Jul 18: Krish N Suvarna (8), a student, studying in the third standard of private school at Urwa in the city died of dengue fever on Tuesday, July 16.

Krish was admitted to a private hospital of the city due to high fever. He died on the afternoon of Tuesday. The public are suspecting that he died of dengue fever. However, the officials of the district health department are denying this fact.

Dr Navin Kumar, district malaria control officer clarified that the death of the young boy occurred due to infection in the muscles of the heart and not due to dengue.

Dr Naveen Kumar also said that there is no need to panic. More than 100 people are admitted to private and government hospitals in the district for suspected dengue fever and all are recovering.

Teams of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will visit all the houses under city corporation limits in coming days. This teams will be assisted by students of more than 10 colleges of the city. These teams will give information to the citizens about the destruction of mosquitoes and symptoms of dengue fever.

    Boy died due to dengue there is no other reason.He was admitted to hospital because of dengue and due to variation in blood he died that is due to dengue.Doctors of the hospital and the health department are saying that the boy died due to other reason because the blame comes to hospital and health department.Mangaluru is having one worst health department and and MLA's MP and Corporators all in the same catagory.Yesterday Health dept inspector visited the house of the boy and he said there is water lagging in the waste water drainage system(Thodu: what we call in tulu) and who is responsible for the cleaning of these waste water drainage system, nothing he has said and he went off and the boy's residence is very near to Mangaluru city corporation that is the reason these people are saying that the boy death was not off dengue but other reason.Really when u see the places near to city corporation you will understand how these city corporation people r working.

    Brijesh mangalore,sad that the boy died either with dengue or heart disease.we cant really tell with what he died.quite possible he had heart ailments and dengue.How doctor could say with heart problems?did he have any blood result?We ourselves are responsible to keep clean our envirement clean and not muncipality.we should clean surroundings not when Modi tells swatch bharat ,to clean.It is lefft to us ,to teach people who dont know about it..One shouldnt blame always others ,doctors or govt.Very very sad young boy is no more.Heartfelt sympathy to the famiy.quite possible boys heart muscles were already weak due to often with infections ,fever and this time with dengue too must have given the rest.May his soul be with angels above to rest in peace.

    This is an opportunity to all residents of the district - if you are not aware of the spread of dengue, search by Gujjarakere to know what a filthy habitat can do to your life.

    Please release still water in your neighborhood because in it breed the mosquito larvae. Don't wait for the Municipal workers to come to do the work. By then it will be too late.

    As the popular saying goes, prevention is the cure, you need to be strict about it. Keep a constant eye and protect yourself and your family from severe diseases like Dengue and Malaria.

    Get rid of mosquitoes & you will get rid of Dengue, Malaria, Nipha virus (animal) ,Swine flu (animal), jaundice., Etc.

    Very sad at the death of the young boy. Condolences to the grieving family members.

    I don't think there is a reason to suspect it to be dengue because if it was dengue, hospitals reveal it openly. Especially because its a common fever now and treatment (and medicines) is readily available. Its not life threatening epidemic as it was before.

    We had two members of a neighboring family hospitalized for dengue, they got cured and health department staff came for a survey if adequate measures are taken by people in their surroundings discouraging mosquito breeding.

    There is no medicine for dengue. Only observation . They only treat the symptom of fever by administering the paracetamol.
    Death occurs due to internal bleeding after platelets count in the blood decrease to alarmingly below normal levels.

    How come administering Papaya leaf juice (now comes in Ayurvedic tablets) raises platelet count in dengue cases ? We had a relative hospitalized for this fever and as soon as the juice was fed (in a very small dose), his platelet count shot up.

    Platelet count will rise after few days , even if you don't do anything . Most likely your relative was in recovery phase of dengue , when you fed him papaya. Anyway there is research going on , to know if it(Papaya) is really a valid treatment for dengue. Till results come , use it only for taste or for constipation
