Bengaluru, Jul 18: By asserting that chief minister, Kumaraswamy, would be moving trust vote on Thursday and set into motion discussions on it, rural development and panchayat raj minister, Krishna Byregowda, indicated that the government will not postpone trust vote date. He told reporters that the proceedings advisory committee has fixed date for the motion and hence the date cannot be changed. However, he did not clarify as to how many days the debate on the motion would continue.
In the meantime, leader of the Congress legislature party, Siddaramaiah, has issued whip to the party legislators once again, although the Supreme Court has clarified that the legislators cannot be compelled to take part in assembly proceedings. The whip says that during the assembly session between July 18 and 26, trust vote would be moved by the government, and therefore, the legislators have to be present compulsorily and cast votes in favour of the motion. If they fail to do so, they have been warned of action under anti defection law.
