Bantwal, Jul 16: It is seen during weddings that the parents of the bride request her in-laws to look after her, like their daughter. But very few act according to their request.
However, a woman here in a rare and noble gesture, has got her widowed daughter-in-law married again and become a role model to others.
Susheela, daughter of Gopalakaje resident Shantappa Gowda in Sullia was married to Madhava, son of Padmayya, residing in the same village, three years ago. However, Madhava died in a road accident, within a year of marriage.
Susheela who was pregnant was devastated after the death of her husband. However, her mother-in-law Kunyakka was worried about her young daughter-in-law's future. She decided that the life of her daughter-in-law should not end this way. Kunyakka spoke to her family members and got them to agree to get Susheela remarried. But Susheela was against it. Susheela had decided not to get married again as she was concerned about her son’s future. But she eventually agreed after intense persuasion.
The simple marriage of Susheela was conducted under the initiative of Kunyakka with Jayaprakash, resident of Kanyana of Bantwal. It was held in Kote Temple in the village.
