Bengaluru, Jul 16: Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, alleged that the BJP was making an effort to help veteran Congress leader, MLA and former minister Roshan Baig, who has been mired in infamous IMA scandal. He said that the BJP was trying to help the MLA to escape to a safe place.
Baig was taken into custody by the special investigation team probing the above fraud, from the international airport here. The chief minister said that Baig was to fly by a chartered plane, and Yeddyurappa's personal assistant, Santosh, and former BJP MLA, C P Yogeshwar, were with Baig at the airport. He said in a tweet that he learnt that Santosh ran away at the sight of the investigation team officials. He also alleged with the support of a document that Santosh was to fly with Baig by the chartered flight. He said this indicates BJP's involvement with efforts to cause the state government to dislodge.

On its part, the BJP said that the CM was utilizing the services of the state machinery to save the government. It pointed out that as per the notice, Roshan Baig had time till July 19 to appear before the investigation team. The BJP in a tweet, also accused the state government of bringing undue pressure on its own legislator unnecessarily, duly substantiating its claim by enclosing a copy of the SIT notice.
