Bengaluru, Jul 16: Several legislators, who participated in the Congress legislature party (CLP) meeting held on Monday July 15 here, asked their leaders to stop indulging in strategies and conspiracies and instead be ready to sit in the opposition and end the party's partnership with the JD(S).
The meeting was held at the hotel where the legislators have been staying on Monday. Former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister, Dr G Parameshwara, KPCC president, Dinesh Gundu Rao etc were present at this all important meeting. Several MLAs expressed anger at their leaders, pointing out that the government has been reduced to minority already and any effort will only is set to go waste. It is said that they took umbrage at the efforts being made by the leaders to save the government. When Siddaramaiah tried to pacify them, some of them asked to value their opinions, and asked the leaders to stop imposing their own opinions every time.
Some of the MLAs said that chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, and PWD minister, H D Revanna, had not responded to their needs for development of constituencies, and that they are now approaching the Congress to save their power. They expressed anger at the failure of the leaders to stop Revanna from interfering with other departments.
It is learnt that many warned that Congress will suffer debacle further if it continues truck with the JD(S). They said that JD(S) will gain upper hand in Mysuru region while BJP has stronghold in north Karnataka, coast, and Malnad regions where the Congress has a tough fight on hand.
Those who are expected to cross over to the BJP were absent at the meeting. Soumya Reddy, who is said to be in favour of resigning, was present.
