Udupi: Murder of bus owner-cum-conductor - One arrested

Udupi, Jul 15: In connection with the murder of a bus conductor cum owner, Prashanth Poojary at Byrampalli near Perdoor in the district, the police succeeded in arresting a person from Petri on July 14. Another person has continued to remain evasive.

The arrested person has been identified as Rakshak (19) from Alangaru, Perdoor. Both the accused are friends, it is learnt.

The police, who investigated the case on the basis of a motor bike found at the spot, got to know that it belonged to a person working in a petrol bunk at Perdoor. From the day of the murder, the person in question and a friend of his had gone missing.


Prashanth Poojary

Prashanth had been hacked to death by the accused with the help of a machete belonging to Prashanth.

The police are continuing with their investigation. More details in the case are likely to emerge after the arrest of the accused who has been on the run.

Reportedly, Prashanth Poojary had got a loan of Rs 50,000 sanctioned to one of the accused from a bank in the town. As he had failed to repay the loan, Prashanth had fought with him, it is said. The murder was committed by the person who got angry at abusive language used by Prashanth Poojary who called the person on mobile phone, it is said.
