New Delhi, July 12 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Friday ordered status quo on the July 10 plea by Karnataka's rebel Congress and JD-S MLAs alleging that Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh was delaying acceptance of their resignations.
The SC dictated its order on the issue. It also observed that various issues of interpretation of the constitutional provisions arose in the case.
The SC said that it first needs to be examined if Speaker needs to decide disqualification. It also requires to be ascertained if the Speaker yesterday sent back the disqualification petitions. SC has also ordered status quo with regard to resignation and disqualification of 10 MLAs.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said the matter required a detailed hearing and schedule it for further hearing on Tuesday.
