Bengaluru, Jul 12: A maulvi, who had advised people to invest in I Monetary Advisory (IMA), was arrested by Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday, July 11.
Haneef Afsar Azeezi is the arrested person. He worked as a priest at Masjid-e-Beparian in Shivajinagar.
Azeezi had allegedly misused the religious faith of the people and encouraged them to invest in IMA, police sources said. Hundreds of people invested in IMA after they believed the priest.
It is alleged that Mohammed Mansoor Khan, the now absconding founder of IMA, had reportedly gifted Azeezi a house worth Rs 3 crore at HBR Layout in 2017 in exchange for luring people to invest in his company.
