Aurangabad, Jul 11: Kashinath Gawli, got overwhelmed with emotions when the MP from the Nyaribari Chache constituency in Kenya, knocked on his doorstep in Aurangabad. After over 30 years, MP Richard Tong'i had returned to repay a debt of Rs 200.
Tong'i was a student of management studies during 1985-1989. When the time came to leave India, he had a debt of Rs 200 with Gawli. Tong'i, during his time as a management student, stayed near Wankhedenagar locality where Gawli had a grocery shop.
Along with wife Michelle, Tong'i visited Aurangabad and broke down as soon as he saw Gawli. In a comment, he said, "As a student in Aurangabad, I was at my lowest point, when Gawlis helped me. Then I thought that one day, I will come back to clear my debt. I want to say thank you. This is an emotional time for me. God bless Gawli and his children. They were wonderful to me and wanted to take me to a hotel for a meal but I insisted on staying at their house for a home-cooked meal."
When the time came to leave, the Kenyan MP invited the entire family for a visit to his country.
