Karkala, Jul 11: POCSO case was registered against a culprit for abduction, sexual assault of minor here.

According to the brother of the victim, the girl had been to a medical store in order to buy medicines on April 25 and did not come back home. The brother had duly registered a missing person complaint with the police.

On investigation and follow up, the police found the girl in a room at Sanaba Layout in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district recently.

The girl was forcefully taken away by suspect Sharan who got married to her by force at Sringeri. After marrying, it is said, that the victim was taken to a shed of labourers of a quarry in Madlapura Hosalli near Kushalnagar. The kidnapper took a room at Sanaba Layout on rent just a month ago.

The minor was sexually assaulted during her forceful stay with the accused kidnapper as per the information available with the police.

The Karkala police have registered case under the POCSO Act and Prevention of Child Marriage Act and are investigating further.
