Udupi, Jul 8: A police team led by district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) here led by inspector,Kiran C, arrested Raghavendra Nayak (23) a resident of Badagabettu here, after finding him selling ganja near Sheembra bus stand at Manipal on July 5. As much as 240 grams of ganja, cellphone, and some handbags were seized from his possession. A case about this incident was registered in Manipal police station.
The DCIB police also took into custody Akshay C N (20) from Koppa taluk when he was found sitting near Ishwaranagar bus stand at Manipal, under the influence ganja he had consumed sometime back.
DCIB team under the leadership of circle inspector, Kiran, arrested Puneeth Kumar from Katbelthoor near Kundapur on Friday evening when he was trying to sell ganja near Kannarpady in Kedekar village. As much as 305 grams of ganja was confiscated from his possession, and a case was registered in Malpe police station.
Mohammed Shoaib (29) from Thirthahalli, and Sardar Wahid (35) from Malpe were arrested and a Swift car they were travelling in was seized. They were also found to be having 450 grams of ganja in their possession. The arrests were made on Saturday morning from near Chembukallu in Udyavar. The police said that they were looking for customers for their ganja. A case was filed in Kaup police station.
Cybercrime, economic offences and narcotics station police personnel arrested three persons on July 6 after finding that they had consumed ganja. Muhammed Anas Ashraf (20) residing at Mission Compound Udupi, was arrested on July 6 afternoon after he was found under the influence of ganja in Herga village. At 12.15 pm the same day, Tahir Asif (28) from Kemmannu and Abdul Khadir (28), from Shirva were arrested after finding them to have consumed ganja in a public place in Herga village.
