Puttur, Jul 6: In the form of clarification for the rumours making the rounds that students arrested in connection with the gang rape of a girl student and the students arrested for sharing the video in social media happen to be the members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), state vice president of ABVP, Rohinaksha Shiralalu, a lecturer by profession, said that none of them are ABVP members.
Addressing a press meet here on Friday July 5, Shirlalu denounced an effort being made to sully the image of ABVP since the last two days by repeatedly associating some of the accused in the case with ABVP. "Vivekananda College campus here has about 8,000 students out of whom 3,000 are members of ABVP. The others are not the members of this organization," he stated.
Condemning the malicious propaganda being carried out against ABVP and demanding stringent punishment to the rape-accused, ABVP will hold protest in all the taluk centres of the district on July 6," he said.
ABVP taluk convener Shashwat, town secretary Shivaprsad, and Vivekananda College ABVP unit president Rakshit Kedilaya, were present.
