Puttur, Jul 3: Special teams, formed by the superintendent of police (SP) of the district, have successfully managed to arrest five persons in the case relating to the gang rape of a girl student of a private college in the town.
The arrested are identified as Gurunandan (19), son of Radhakrishna, resident of Ganadamoole Mane, Bajathoor village of Puttur taluk, Prajwal (19), son of Nagesh Naika, a resident of Rajashree Kripa, Perne village, Bantwal, Kishan (19), son of Sadashiva, a resident of Kadambu Mane, Perne village Bantwal, Sunil (19), son of Kantappa Gowda, a resident of Piligunda Mane, Aryapu village of Puttur taluk and Prakhyath (19), son of Subbanna Shetty, Balya Mane, Borimaru village of Bantwal taluk.

Puttur: Gang rape of college student - Police arrest two, search on for others
Puttur, Jul 3: Four boys, student of a private college in the town, took a girl, their classmate, in a car to an unknown place and allegedly raped her after intoxicating her by feeding some substance. In addition, they have also made a video of the intimate act and shared the same on WhatsApp.
Superintendent of police (SP) of the district, B M Laxmi Prasad has rushed to the town as soon as he got the news of the video going viral on WhatsApp. In total, four boys are allegedly involved in the heinous act. Two of them, whose face is clearly visible in the video, have been arrested by the police. Search is on for the rest of the two culprits who are involved in the act.
The police have registered a gang rape case and are investigating further. SP B M Laxmi Prasad has warned the public not to share this video and has said that doing so will be a criminal offense and suitable action will be taken by the police on the erring persons.
