Mangalore, May 22: CPI (M) Ullal regional committee secretary Ramachandra Ucchil said, Dayavati Kuttar, who had been elected from the party ticket to the local taluk panchayat from Munnoor village, has been expelled from the party for violating the party's instructions.
Through a press release, Ucchil said the party had called upon the party members to support the candidates belonging to secular parties during the election held for the post of the president and vice-president of the taluk panchayat here. Both the CPI (M) members were told to ensure that the BJP, which is a communal party, does not come to power, he explained.
In tune with this advice, CPI (M) member Shalini S Poojary supported the Congress party candidate. Dayavati remained neutral. This helped the BJP candidate to rise to power. Treating this as an act of indiscpline, an emergency meeting was held under the presidentship of Krishnappa Salian, where a decision to expel her was taken, Ramachandra added.
