Mangaluru, Jul 3: A team of officials deputed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to the airport here to conduct investigation into an incident in which an Air India Express flight from Dubai went astray when taxiing towards the airport terminal after touchdown, has concluded its task. It is learnt that the team has gone back after work.
The report of the findings would be submitted by the team to the union department of civil aviation and Airports Authority of India. On the basis of findings recorded in the report, further steps will follow. In the meanwhile, Air India Express too has been conducting an internal inquiry into the incident. The report of this inquiry would be sent to the chief aviation safety officer.
The aircraft which veered from the runway and was stopped just short of grave danger by its pilot, has been moved from its position to the new wing of the airport where the aircraft is being tested. Using this aircraft for flight operations would be considered only after the engineers conduct detailed inspection and certify the aircraft as fit for being airborne. This process may take a week or so, sources said.
