Puttur, Jul 3: In connection with threatening of a pediatrician, Dr Archana, during her visit to the government hospital here, a case has been filed in the women's police station here against Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president, Meenakshi Shantigodu. The police have begun investigation into the complaint.
Allegedly, Meenakshi arrived at the government hospital here on June 29 when Dr Archana was attending to patients, and scolded her in a threatening voice. She questioned the doctor about a girl who is being treated in this hospital. Dr Archana refused to say anything as there is no provision to reveal this information as per medical regulations. The zilla panchayat president then obstructed the doctor from checking her patients. She also got the video of the scene of her taking the doctor to task recorded through her supporters. It is said that this video was uploaded in social website.
These actions have created mental agony for the doctor and resulted in her insult. On the basis of a complaint filed by the doctor concerned, a case was registered under the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Medicare Service Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009, a release from the police department stated.
