Puttur: Posing threat to doctor - Police register FIR against ZP president

Puttur, Jul 3: In connection with threatening of a pediatrician, Dr Archana, during her visit to the government hospital here, a case has been filed in the women's police station here against Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president, Meenakshi Shantigodu. The police have begun investigation into the complaint.

Allegedly, Meenakshi arrived at the government hospital here on June 29 when Dr Archana was attending to patients, and scolded her in a threatening voice. She questioned the doctor about a girl who is being treated in this hospital. Dr Archana refused to say anything as there is no provision to reveal this information as per medical regulations. The zilla panchayat president then obstructed the doctor from checking her patients. She also got the video of the scene of her taking the doctor to task recorded through her supporters. It is said that this video was uploaded in social website.

These actions have created mental agony for the doctor and resulted in her insult. On the basis of a complaint filed by the doctor concerned, a case was registered under the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Medicare Service Personnel and Damage to Property in Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009, a release from the police department stated.

    When you appoint and select uneducated people purely based on caste and gender reservations without proper background what you can expect on their public behaviour. Does this ZP President know what it takes to become a doctor and serve in a government hospital. These arrogant elected representatives think they own every citizen and public servant. Time to show these people their place. Doctor should file criminal case and claim damages in lakhs.

    ZPP is asking the Doctor about her source of salary , does the ZPP knows the source of her salary ? It is paid by we tax payers. ZPP should behave properly with medical professionals. She appears to be a egoist and arrogant lady.

    ZP president is not officially visited to hospital. In the video a mother carrying a child waiting for doctor.Dr Archana is pregnant also. Strict action against Zilla Panchayat President has been taken is need of hour.

    Dan Dubai here forgiving has nothing to do with such character of this lady (Lady is a wrong word as she deserve it because how she acted in front of people and during medical visit )When she wanted to ask about a patient treated in that hospital she should make a timing with doctor and disuss there.Not in ward .whatever she is ,thats not the way to scold and all this fuss.One has to learn how to behave in hospital in front of patients and dont interfere in not concerned things,and most important no video in hospital ,it hurts the ethics of other patients too.How she will feel when she is in a commitee meeting suddenly enter room and start asking questions and abuse her work?

    ZP shall be dealt with all pertaining laws of the country. As per medical norms, passing any info of patient to third party is illegal. This much common sense should have there with ZP again, the case is judicial one. More over ZP cross all limits to publish her illiterate behavior on e-media. This rude ZP shall be suspended with immediate effect, then impartial investigation shall be carried out. All DK Doctors, unite together to fight for justice. Today with Dr. Archana, tomorrow may be with you.

    The DK Zila President Meenakshi Shantigodu had no business to interfere when the doctor was examining the patients. What does she think of herself? She should be shown her place. Never again should she meddle with things she knows nothing about. A doctor has his or her own respect and dignity. Certainly a doctor is more dignified than a politician and the earlier Meenakshi Shantigodu realises this, the better it will be for her.

    It has become a fad to target doctors doing their duty,( for the simple reason they don't talk / fight back as seen over the last few weeks) , to gain social media mileage.

    This imbecile ZP member must be dealt exemplary action/punishment for her horrendous behavior. If she truly was interested in the welfare of the girl who was admitted there , she wouldn't have approached like this. This was just merely her stunt attempt to fame .
