Udupi: LPG bullet tanker tumbles at Udyavar - Police take precautionary steps

Udupi, Jul 3: In an accident which happened at around 5 am on Wednesday July 3, an LPG tanker carrying LPG towards Belagavi from Mangaluru went out of the control of its driver when the tanker was being turned towards Udyavar for buying diesel and tumbled by the roadside. The accident happened when the vehicle was deviating from the highway at Balaipade and heading towards Udyavar.

The tanker driver took a U-turn near Balaipade. The tanker which turned towards Mangaluru then was leaving the highway and heading to a petrol bunk when the tanker fell. Driver of the tanker, Ayivuddin, survived with minor injuries.

As the tanker which fell by the roadside is loaded with LPG, tension has spread in the area because of grave danger posed in case the gas begins to leak.

Firefighters and police personnel of the town station here have reached the spot. The police have warned hotels in the vicinity not to begin operations till further information.

Indian Oil Corporation officials visited the spot and inspected the tanker.
