Sullia, Jul 3: T A Sharavana, a JD(S) MLC considered to be a close confidante of state chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, asserted that the state government is on solid footing and efforts to unseat it will fail in spite of resignations tendered by a few legislators.
He was speaking to media persons after visiting Lord Subrahmanya Temple at Subrahmanya along with family and paying obeisance to the presiding deity.
He observed that plans to preempt the fall of the coalition government have been on since the day the state government was formed, duly pointing out that none of them had harmed the government. "The two legislators who have tendered their resignations have not adhered to rules and norms. Therefore, the chances of the governor accepting these resignations are remote," he explained.
He said that efforts are on to convince these two MLAs to change their minds. He dismissed as baseless rumour the information about four JD(S) MLAs preparing to resign. "All our legislators are in touch with Deve Gowda, and Congress leaders have been acting to keep their flock together. Efforts being made by the BJP to engineer the fall of the government with greed for power will fail," he stated.
He said that the state government has been responding well to the problems faced by the people. At the same time, he accused some MLAs of joining hands with the BJP to create problems for the government, and blamed the media for projecting as if the government is about to crash.
