Bengaluru, Jun 30: Former Prime Minister and chief of JD(S) H D Deve Gowda was seen visibly disturbed by the repeated statements of state Congress leaders that the alliance with JD(S) was the cause for their defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. He said that these kind of repeated accusations have pained him.
Deve Gowda was speaking here after partaking in the meeting of youth leaders of the party on Saturday, June 29.
"Are the Vokkaligas responsible for the defeat of Kharge in Kalaburagi and Muniyappa in Kolar?" he questioned.
"Some state Congress leaders have recently informed the Congress high command that the alliance with JD(S) was a wrong move. They have also said that JD(S) has stabbed them from behind. All these developments have pained me," said Deve Gowda.
Deve Gowda further said, "We are accused that ours is family politics. I have always given opportunities for leaders from backward and minority communities. I will not contest for elections anymore."
“JD (S) leaders have decided to conduct a Padayatra of around 1,500 km throughout the state in order to strengthen the party. This will be done in two phases beginning from August 20. I have told the leaders of the party to start the process as soon as possible,” he informed.
