Panaji, Jun 29: Over the time there has been unrest between tourist taxi operators and GoaMiles drivers following which, several complaints have been registered in coastal police station. On Friday, deputy speaker, Michael Lobo said that prospective solutions are being looked into to resolve the constant opposition between the two entities.

In the light of the current situation, chief minister, Pramod Sawant, has called for a meeting of taxi operators on Monday, along with presence of every MLA from the coastal belt. Earlier in the week, a cabinet meeting was held discussing the opposition faced against the government based taxi service app, GoaMiles. In the meeting it was finally decided that the private taxi operators will also have the freedom to develop their own app based service.

"In the interest of Goan taxi owners all MLAs should attend the meeting that is being held to arrive at an amicable action that will help our Goan brothers who are in this trade for many years. We have to also see to it that the high court order directing installation of digital taxi meters is implemented."

According to Lobo, the rift between the taxi operators and GoaMiles drivers can leave a bad travel experience for the tourist. The deputy speaker has intimidated the North Goa taxi owners association and will soon be notifying the south Goa association.
