Udupi: Bhaskar Shetty murder case - Examination of witnesses begins

Udupi, Jun 27: In connection with the infamous murder case of NRI entrepreneur, Bhaskar Shetty, in which his wife and son are named as accused, hearing of witnesses began in the district and sessions court here on Wednesday June 26. On the first day, statements of police officers was recorded.

Special public prosecutor appointed in the case and advocate M Shantaram Shetty, subjected retired deputy superintendent of police of criminal investigation department, P V M Swamy and deputy superintendent of police S Badrinath, during the main examination. Regional officer of forensic science laboratory at Mangaluru Kumuda, was subjected to cross examination on this occasion.

Bhaskar Shetty's wife, Rajeshwari Shetty, who is out on bail, was present in the court. Her son, Navneet Shetty, and astrologer, Nandalike Niranjan Bhat, who has also been named as main accused, appeared during the hearing by way of video conferencing facility.

June 27 has been earmarked for the examination of chief witnesses, Rajesh and Geetha Shetty. On June 28, former investigating officer, Sumana, and Chandrashekhar of COD will be examined.
