Mangaluru, Jun 26: A makeup and face decoration camp, organized by Konkani drama repertory Kalakul, promoted by Mandd Sobhann started at Kalaangan in the city on June 25.
Purushotham Talavata, renowned makeup artiste, drama and movie actor, who will be training the participants explained the circumstances that led to his entering the makeup art field and shared his experiences.
Purushotham said, "Only through effort and continuous practice any education can be taken to a greater height. This make up is not like beautifying the face of a bride. In this art the face of beautiful person can be made to look ugly, as per the requirement of the character they need to play. Hero can be turned into a villain or demon. Colours have history behind them. In olden days, colour were produced by batter, leaves and other herbal ingredients. Today, readymade colours are available. There are colours which depict particular emotions on the face. Actors should know face decoration. If all this is learnt, a person will be successful. It is my wish that this art should continue. That is why I travel throughout the state and train the interested people."
Gurumurthy V S introduced the resource person. Aruraj Rodrigues welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
Later, an interactive session was held on the documentary film on makeup art that was presented to the audience.
The classes of the camp will be held every day from 6 pm to 8.30 pm. The valedictory function will take place on June 29.
