Udupi, Jun 25: Adani Group’s Udupi Power Corporation Limited, observed ‘Go-Red’ drive, a volunteer blood donation drive, under the banner of Adani Foundation, at its power plant in Yellur village in Udupi district on Monday, June 24.
The drive conducted to commemorate the birth anniversary of Adani Group’s founder chairman Gautam Adani, was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by Dr Sharath Kumar from District Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, Dr Veenakumar from District Hospital, Udupi and Kishore Alva, president and executive director of Adani in presence of departmental heads of UPCL.
Inaugurating the camp, Dr Sharath explained the importance and need of the blood donation to the society. He applauded the efforts of Adani Foundation in organizing the blood donation camp in June month of every year for the last 5 years and donating the blood units to the District Hospitals of Mangaluru and Udupi.
Later, Kishore Alva spoke and informed that Adani Group’s entities, under the aegis of Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, is organizing blood donation drive across all locations of Group’s entities every year and thousands of blood units are being collected and handed over to Blood Banks at respective locations. He expressed happiness that majority of the employees of UPCL and its allied units are voluntarily participating in the drive every year and exhibiting a sign of social responsibility.
Nearly 380 units of blood were collected in the camp and Kishore Alva thanked all the volunteers for joining hands in the noble cause.
