Bengaluru, Jun 24: A 44-year-old man, who visited Vidhana Soudha to submit a request application to a minister, tried to commit suicide in one of the bathrooms.
R Revanna Kumar, working as a assistant librarian at Anoor village Panchayat in Chikkaballapur had written a requisition to a minister to fix the minimum wage.
As per reports, Revanna went to the third floor and went inside a restroom, adjacent to Room no 332 of Vidhana Soudha and slit his throat and wrists in an attempt to end his life.
However, a sweeper noticed him fallen on the floor and raised alarm. Revanna was immediately rushed to Bowring Hospital. He is said to be out of danger.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division) D. Devaraja told media that the exact cause for suicide is yet to be ascertained. It is yet to be confirmed if Revanna succeeded in meeting the minister.
Revanna had inflicted injuries to himself with a sharp object. Investigations are underway on how he managed to take the sharp object inside Vidhana Soudha, which is a major security breach.
