Bengaluru: KPCC revamp - Leaders busy trying to push in their followers

Bengaluru, Jun 24: After Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) was disbanded by the Congress high command in the light of the party's ignominious defeat in the Lok Sabha election except for the president and working president of the unit, a new team that is expected to revive the party and infuse vigour in the state unit, is yet to be formed.

In the meanwhile, it is learnt that party leaders have been trying to secure seats in the KPCC as in the past, for their cronies. As such, the list of office bearers of KPCC this time is expected to be quite long as in the past.

The team that was dissolved recently had a total of around 300 people spread over various posts. Most of them were inactive. As such, the party is likely to give preference to enthusiastic, young and talented activists who have proven record of efficiency and honesty.

People who want to be office bearers of KPCC and district units have already been putting forth efforts to get into the outfit. KPCC president, Dinesh Gundu Rao, would be on a ten-day foreign tour from next week end and as such, a new team would be formed after he returns during July. It is said that some veteran Congress leaders are doing their best to make sure that former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, will not be able to cement his seat through these appointments. There is also pressure to draft guidelines as per which people who are involved with party organization alone should be appointed into the KPCC and those who have worked during the tenures of multiple presidents should not be accommodated again.
