Mangaluru, Jun 24: The 5th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College (FMHMC) Auditorium, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, on June 21.
The programme began with the blessings of the Almighty through a prayer song followed by a welcome speech by Dr Shivaprasad K, principal, FMHMC and thereafter the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
The chief guest of the day was Dr Rajesh Padekal, principal and chief medical officer at Sharada Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College and Hospital, Mangaluru. Dr Padikal emphasized on the importance of Yoga in today’s stressful life. He encouraged the students to practice Yoga as a stress buster incorporating it in their daily routine. The chief guest was felicitated with a memento as a token of appreciation by the administrator Fr Roshan Crasta, followed by his presidential address. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr Havyasri, department of Yoga, and FMHMC.
The inaugural function was followed by Yoga session in which 120 students of FMHMC participated under the guidance of Dr Havyasri.
