Udupi, Jun 21: In a gruesome accident which happened on Friday, June 21 at K G Road on national highway 66 near Santhekatte, two people including the driver were killed after the tipper truck in which they were seated jumped over the divider and then overturned after the vehicle went out of its driver's control.

Those who lost their lives in the accident were Nagaraj Ganiga and Kumar Bhatkal. The other person in the tipper escaped with minor injuries. He has been identified as Raghavendra.

Member of the state legislative council, Kota Srinivas Poojary, who passed by the spot of the accident a little after the accident, sensing the seriousness of the accident, immediately called the ambulance and police department. He also saw that the tipper which had fallen across the highway and hence was blocking movement of traffic, was cleared from there. He ensured that the injured person is provided with medical help at a hospital, before proceeding to participate in the Yoga Day programme.
