Kundapur, Jun 20: On account of attack by a group of street dogs near Kandlur bridge here on Wednesday June 19 evening, three persons including two small children suffered serious injuries. All of them were admitted into a hospital.
A few children were playing at Toplu near Kandlur bridge when a group of about five dogs attacked them. When a woman tried to shield the children from the dogs and scare away the canines, they attacked her. Four-year-old Adivth, Ayeja (4) and Kanaka Poojarthi (45) suffered serious injuries. All of them are being treated in Chinmayi Hospital Kundapur as inpatients.
The incident has sent shock waves through Kandlur village. The locals succeeded in driving away the dogs by hitting them with sticks and thus saving the children from serious danger.
Local taluk panchayat member Jyoti Putran, said that the menace of street dogs has increased since sometime and that 15 t0 20 packs of dogs are active in the area, and they turn monstrous in the evening. She has urged the local administration and the department concerned to regulate the street dogs and save the people from their attacks.
