Bantwal, Jun 20: In an incident that occurred on Wednesday, June 19 at Mani of Vittal near here, a KSRTC bus veered off the road and got stuck in a drainage by the side of the road. The mishap occurred when the driver of the KSRTC bus was trying to give way to a tanker that was coming from the opposite direction after overtaking another vehicle.
The conductor of the said bus is injured in the accident. Fortunately, all the passengers escaped unhurt.
The bus was plying from Subramanya to Mangaluru. The driver tried to save a head on collision with a tanker that was coming in the wrong lane after overtaking another vehicle. The driver, in a bid to avert a sure accident, veered the bus to the edge of the road, lost the control and bus hit against a drainage and came to halt in a slant position.
The injured conductor is admitted to the Puttur hospital. More than 40 passengers were there in the bus when the mishap occurred. They are exited the bus through the emergency door.
Vittal ASI Yellappa and personnel visited the spot and conducted the inspection.
